about Me

What if we played with dollhouses or set up a game of family feud because it might open our minds to understand the problem in a new way?

As a design leader I believe that the best way to lean into the unknown is through collaborative making, play, and experimentation.

I am a designer who has worn many hats, starting as a materials engineer, industrial designer, design strategist, UX designer, design researcher, and service designer. Titles may be transient, but my goals are consistent:

  • to understand people and what motivates their behaviors in order to design great products and services

  • to empower teams of smart, creative, diverse thinkers to do impactful work that makes the world a better place

  • to have fun experimenting, learning, and innovating along the way

My Background

I've worked as an industrial designer for clients in personal care, pharmaceutical, and insurance industries while at the Chicago based innovation firm GravityTank, as an in-house design strategist at Capital One, as a user experience practice lead design at IBM, and now a service design and research lead at Fjord Austin.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Masters in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design.

A few of my favorite books

  • Exposing the Magic of Design - Jon Kolko

  • I Miss My Pencil - Kara Johnson & Martin Bone

  • Universal Methods of Design - Bruce Hanington & Bella Martin
